Juventus leaders simultaneously resigned
In addition to Agnelli and Nedved, CEO Maurizio Arrivabene also submitted his resignation. Therefore, Juventus no longer has a key executive. Agnelli previously served as Juventus President for 12 years, from 2010. He created a decade of dominance for the team with nine Scudetto titles.
Nedved is a Juventus legend as a player. He spent the last eight years of his career at the club, then became Vice President in 2015. Arrivabene joined Juventus after succeeding with the 2019 Ferrari team. He was appointed CEO from 2021.
Juventus said the new leadership will be introduced at a meeting scheduled for January 18, 2023.
Before the board of directors resigned, Juventus was investigated for paying salaries to players and coach Maurizio Sarri during the Covid-19 period.
In March 2020, Juventus announced that the players would not receive wages for at least 4 months because of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, documents under investigation show that the Italian team made a payment of $ 20 million to Cristiano Ronaldo and a number of other players in 2020.
According to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Juventus will be fined between 20 and 60 million USD if the allegations are true. 16 club heads, including Agnelli and Nedved, could face court for falsifying financial information, for the years 2019 and 2021.
