Kawhi Leonard recovers in time for new season: Ready for final campaign with LA Clippers?
On the operating table this summer to "clean up" and completely treat a knee injury, Kawhi Leonard initially did not know when he could return to 100% fitness for the Los Angeles Clippers.
But according to the latest update from head coach Tyronn Lue, who is on duty in the US national team's shirt to prepare for the FIBA World Cup, "bear hand" Leonard will recover right before the new season.
Back in the last round of the NBA Playoffs 2023, Kawhi Leonard had excellent Game 1 and Game 2 against the Phoenix Suns.
But he was suddenly absent from Game 3 onwards with the reason that was later revealed to be a torn meniscus in his knee. Three "bear hand" matches did not play, the LA Clippers lost all three times to the Suns and were once again eliminated early in the postseason with a score of 1-4.
In June, Clippers' president of expertise, Lawrence Frank, announced that Leonard had to go to the operating table to "clean up" the bone fragments, completely treating the existing injury.
According to Coach Tyronn Lue's update from the US basketball team's concentration camp, everything is going well and Kawhi Leonard will be ready for the LA Clippers' Training Camp phase.
Not only being able to play in the opening match of the Regular Season, "The Klaw" is also able to gather in the pre-season to practice with teammates, building more cohesion for NBA 2023-24.
Since Leonard joined the LA Clippers in the summer of 2019, he has only played 161 times out of a total of 308 Regular Season games. At the two Playoffs 2021 and 2023, Kawhi was injured and had to finish the season earlier than other teammates.
Paul George is slightly better but not outstanding, going to the Clippers in 2019 and playing 189 Regular Season games in 4 seasons.
The fact that the blue and white half of Los Angeles has never reached success in the Playoffs is largely because these two stars are always taking turns or getting injured together.
With both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George sharing a Player Option for the 2024-25 season, the duo could potentially say goodbye to the LA Clippers as soon as next summer.
Therefore, the 2023-24 season is considered by experts to be the "last campaign" in which "The Klaw" and "PG13" try their best with the goal of winning. If the two continue to be empty-handed, it is highly likely that they will no longer be interested in LA Clippers.
