Klay Thompson regrets showing off 4 rings to Devin Booker, admits she was born for "wrong time"
Golden State Warriors super sniper Klay Thompson has become the latest guest in the "Podcast P" series by LA Clippers star Paul George.
Here, Klay shared quite a few things, including that he confessed to "putting his finger in the fire ant's nest" when he crowed at the wrong time with Devin Booker, which partly led to the Golden State Warriors' defeat to the Phoenix Suns. the beginning of the NBA season last year.
The back-and-forth appeared at the end of October 2022, when both Golden State and Phoenix had only played 3 matches in the Regular Season. Although it was the beginning of the season, the two teams brought a tense atmosphere like a Playoffs.
In the 3rd round, Klay Thompson started to play with Devin Booker after a number of verbal situations. It wasn't long before the two were facing each other, each receiving a technical error
The Warriors star repeatedly put four fingers in his opponent's face, a gesture that reminded him that he had won four times and Booker had never been.
Emotions seemed to overwhelm Thompson and make him lose control. Minutes later, Klay shoved Suns player Mikal Bridges and was penalized for a second technical foul, from which he was sent off the field for the first time in a playing career in more than a decade.
While the two teams were still level at the time of Klay Thompson's disqualification, the Phoenix Suns broke through late to win a blow-out 134-105.
Klay left the field with exactly 2 points and a single successful shot (1-8 FG), completely overwhelmed compared to Devin Booker, owner of 34 points and 7 assists.
"To be honest, Book (Devin Booker - PV) fed me onions all night, I was completely overwhelmed by emotions," Klay Thompson shared on the podcast with Paul George.
“I didn't keep my feet on the ground and that nap of my neck was completely counterproductive. I don't need to brag about having 4 rings because everyone knows that. It's even on Wikipedia, so I don't need to show it off."
“As a man, I can totally admit that I will have moments of weakness like that. I'm not happy about it at all," Klay added.
“I should have said that I have a lot of respect for Devin Booker because he trained so hard, survived a very difficult time at Phoenix when so many players came and went.
Now Book is playing for a new coach with many big names appearing, but in the end he is still the number one star of the team. I respect and admire Booker a lot.”
It was not until this time that Klay Thompson had the opportunity to talk about the collision situation with Devin Booker. On the side of the Phoenix Suns star, the number 1 thrower immediately smashed all the problems he had with his opponent.
“Klay Thompson is a player I have admired for a long time. From the very first day I came to the NBA, I always wanted to be a pitcher like Klay," Devin Booker said.
“Of course as professional players, we play against each other and play, trash-talking a bit is normal. But it doesn't take away the respect I have for him."
It is not common for players to speak out about collision situations like this, especially with Klay Thompson when he "admits his mistake" after nearly 10 months.
No matter how Klay feels, this share of his also warms many fans. Particularly the relationship between Thompson and Booker will certainly not be affected, maintaining the rivalry but still keeping the respect between the two top scorers in the NBA today.
