Lam Dong Lam Dong Provincial Football Club is likely to participate in the 2023 National First Division transferred from Saigon FC.

According to a MetaSports source, the transfer will be done this week. After returning to Lam Dong, the team will be sponsored by a transport business corporation in this province to compete in the National First Division.

After finishing last in the V-League 2022 and being relegated, Saigon FC has liquidated most of the coaching staff and players. However, under the professional football regulations amended and supplemented in 2023, a team does not need up to 14 old players to transfer to another party. Therefore, Saigon FC met the requirement to transfer the first place to Lam Dong.

In the event that the transfer of Saigon FC fails, Lam Dong will switch to buying Can Tho Club. Tay Do football team has not yet registered to compete in the First Division and has not announced the withdrawal of the tournament. Can Tho Club currently lacks operating funds when the old sponsor has not yet settled the debts, and therefore, other businesses do not want to invest. Therefore, if not transferred to another unit, Can Tho Club will give up the First Division.

Lam Dong province has just built a stadium in Da Lat with a capacity of 20,000 seats, capable of hosting professional matches. Lam Dong Football Club is currently playing in the Second Division, bringing in former Thai player Isawa Sington as head coach. They also recruited a number of other former Vietnamese players for their professional ambitions.

The 2023 First Division currently has only 11 clubs registered to participate, scheduled to start on April 8.
