Lam Quang Nhat won overwhelmingly in the 2023 Triathlon National Championship
The men's individual triathlon content this morning included 750 meters of swimming, 20 km of cycling and 5 km of running.
Quang Nhat, originally a swimmer, took full advantage of this strength to complete the first part in just 10 minutes and 7 seconds, 1 minute 26 seconds faster than runner-up Trinh Vu Anh Huy. He kept the lead in the cycling competition with the parameters of 33 minutes and 16 seconds. In the last 5 km run, Quang Nhat reached a pace of 4:05 (four minutes 5 seconds per km) to finish in 20 minutes 25.
Calculating the total achievement of three contests plus two transitions (T1 and T2), the triathlete of the Ho Chi Minh delegation won the gold medal with 1 hour 5 minutes 2 seconds. Teammate with Ho Chi Minh City delegation Anh Uy finished second with 1 hour 7 minutes 19 seconds. Athlete from Ba Ria Vung Tau team Tu Vinh Phat with 1 hour 14 minutes 11 seconds, which is 9 minutes 9 seconds slower than Quang Nhat.
In all three competitions, Quang Nhat just didn't get the best result in the running part. Hau Giang athlete Le Nhat Tai ran the fastest with 19 minutes and 38 seconds, but got lost in the running, so the final result was not recognized. Vinh Phat ran the second best with 20 minutes 17 seconds. But thanks to making a big difference from the swimming part, Quang Nhat always kept the leading position through all three competitions.
"Today is a favorable day for me. Because of the small lap track, repeats up to eight times, I chose the strategy of pushing hard in the swimming part, focusing on technique in the pedal part and only running moderately in the competition part. last," Quang Nhat told MetaSports after finishing.
Individual Triathlon is one of three events Quang Nhat competes in at the 2023 Triathlon National Championship. Tomorrow, July 30, he will compete in individual Aquathlon (500 m swimming - 2.5 km running) in the morning, then next Triathlon mixed strength (300 m swimming - 6.6 km cycling - 1 km running) in the afternoon.
Quang Nhat, born in 1997, is not part of the golden generation of swimming in Vietnam, but still resonates in the regional arena, culminating in the 1500m freestyle SEA Games gold medal in 2013, 2015, and Silver medal in this content in 2017. After parting with swimming in 2018, at the age of 21, he found a new passion and intact desire to conquer since he fell in love with triathlon - (triathlon: swimming -) cycling - running) - a somewhat new sport that has become popular in Vietnam since about 8 years.
Winning in the individual Triathlon this morning strengthens Quang Nhat's position as the number one triathlete in Vietnam. Previously, he won the VNG & BoiDapChay Super League 2020, Sunset Bay Triathlon 2019, 2020, Tri-Factor Vung Tau 2021, 2022, won the gold medal of the 2022 National Sports Festival.
