LaMelo Ball suffered an ankle injury according to a difficult scenario
LaMelo Ball suffered an ankle injury in a rather difficult way in the Charlotte Hornets match against the Houston Rockets this morning (January 19). He had to leave the field with the help of the medical team and appeared to be in extreme pain.
The injury situation occurred at the beginning of the third half when LaMelo jumped high to try to block the opponent's goal. When landing with both feet still on the floor, Ball was suddenly "harmed" by teammate PJ Washington, stepping on the ankle area.
Washington was unharmed, but LaMelo Ball hugged his leg in pain and was soon taken care of by doctors in the yard.
Unable to put pressure on the injured ankle, LaMelo Ball was led by two people to the changing room. Before leaving the field, the 2001 defender had 13 points and 4 assists.
The Charlotte Hornets announced that LaMelo had broken his ankle and the date of return is unknown because the team does not know the severity of the injury. Unfortunately for Ball, right before today's game, he was in very good form with an average of 24.0 points (career-high), 8.4 assists and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Without LaMelo Ball for most of the 3rd half and the entire 4th half, the Charlotte Hornets were suddenly up with the shine of Terry Rozier and many other satellite players. They overcame the Houston Rockets to pause a 5-game losing streak, marking their 12th win in a total of 46 games since the beginning of the season.
The ability to get Playoffs tickets or even play-ins is still quite far away for the Hornets, although they still need the service of LaMelo Ball to avoid having to compete like "headless snakes" in the near future.
