According to coach Frank Lampard, Chelsea created more chances than Real Madrid but still lost 0-2 in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

Lampard did not want to praise Chelsea too much after the defeat, but commented that the home team created more chances than the opponent, especially in the first 60 minutes. "We should have taken advantage of those opportunities to score," he told BT Sport. "If we score first, the audience will be more excited and motivate the players. But I don't want to criticize the players for squandering opportunities."

Chelsea shot 19 times, compared to Real's nine, but the visitors took advantage of the better opportunity to score two goals thanks to Rodrygo's goal midway through the second half. Chelsea also created at least two good chances but N'Golo Kante both missed. A 2-0 victory in the second leg helped Real beat Chelsea 4-0 in the end, to enter the semi-finals and wait to meet Man City or Bayern.

Lampard was also pleased with the Chelsea player's performance. "Chelsea played better than Real, and we need to maintain the same performance in the next matches," added the 45-year-old coach. "The starting players are physically fit and in good form, we also did everything, just missing the goal."

Lampard led Chelsea four games as interim manager, but lost all of them. In addition to two matches against Real, they lost to the host Wolverhampton 0-1 and the away team Brighton 1-2 in the English Premier League. Chelsea only has one arena left this season, which is the English Premier League, where they are in 11th place, 10 points away from the European Cup.

Chelsea have lost four games in a row for the first time since November 1993. In all competitions this season, they are also dead in 18 matches. The last season the team did not score in 18 or more matches was 42 years ago. In all competitions, Chelsea also have not won the last seven matches.

Chelsea's remaining opponents in the Premier League are also not pleasant, with Man Utd, Brentford, Arsenal, Bournemouth, Nottingham, Man City and Newcastle. The last time they finished outside the top 10 was the 1995-1996 season, in 11th place.
