Spain With only three minutes left in kick-off time, the Argentine striker scored to help Inter draw 1-1 with Sociedad in the opening round of Group D of the Champions League.

At Anoeta Stadium, the defending runner-up team got off to a bad start. In the 4th minute, goalkeeper Yann Sommer carelessly passed to Alessandro Bastoni, resulting in the ball being lost, creating conditions for Brais Mendez to open the score for Sociedad.

After the early goal, the home team had many opportunities to almost double the gap. Takefusa Kubo crossed the ball for Robin Le Normand to narrowly miss the goal, before forcing Sommer to save from a tight angle. After the break, Sommer made two more important saves against Mendez's free kick and Mikel Oyarzabal's header.

In the 66th minute, the referee immediately issued a red card and sent Nicolo Barella off, after thinking that the Inter midfielder stepped on Mendez. However, after consulting VAR, he determined that Barella did not commit a foul and canceled the card.

From being forced on the field for most of the match, Inter suddenly equalized with the first shot towards the goal. After Davide Frattesi shot diagonally from outside the penalty area in the 87th minute, Lautaro Martinez shot from a tight angle past goalkeeper Alex Remiro.

The valuable equalizer helped last season's runner-up team leave Spain with one point. In Group D, Inter and Sociedad are ranked second and third, behind Salzburg. In the match in the same round, the Austrian team won 2-0 at Benfica's field.

While Inter struggled to escape defeat in Spain, fellow team Napoli started with a 2-1 victory at Braga's field to lead Group C.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo opened the score for Napoli in the 45+1 minute, volleying in Victor Osimhen's header. The Serie A champion continued to dominate in the second half, but a defensive mistake in the 84th minute gave the home team an equalizer. Zalazar crossed the ball for Bruma to head in to level the score at 1-1. However, four minutes after Braga's equalizer, Napoli still managed to advance to win three points. Zielinski crossed the ball and Niakate scored an own goal to set the score 2-1.

Three points in Portugal helped Napoli top Group C. Real Madrid is ranked second due to poor difference, after winning 1-0 against Union Berlin.
