Lazada Run kicking off on April 22 and 23 is the first run organized by an e-commerce platform on a regional scale. Vietnam is the opening country, before going through Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia and closing with the final round in Singapore - where 4 winners at the distance of 21 km of each country come to compete. Dang Anh Dung - Deputy General Director of Lazada Vietnam, said that the award is an activity to connect the community, spread a positive lifestyle, and bring the image of talented Vietnamese runners to the international arena.

- Why did the business decide to organize a running race?

- The running race originates from our new brand positioning as "Add to cart, add to life". Lazada is not only an e-commerce platform for buying and selling transactions, but also brings many experiences, emotions and meanings to users. One of the messages we want to convey through the award is "Add fitness to life", through health training, improving sportsmanship and constantly discovering your limits.

I am also a runner. Marathon gathers a lot of energy from the community of sports participants. The running movement in the past 10 years has been relatively developed. Upcoming activities can evoke empathy and response from participants, athletes, brands, potential customers as well as partners to create resonance and bring meaningful events to the community. .

- In your opinion, what value does the award bring to the community?

- This is the first prize in a series of activities with the goal of bringing customers and users new and meaningful experiences in life. We have no ambition to be a professional sports event organizer.

The event converges all the values ​​that Lazada wishes to convey to partners, users and employees. More than just a marathon, Lazada Run also combines the brand's signature shopping and entertainment experiences. This factor is considered the most important key to locating Lazada Run.

The value of the tournament also lies in the fact that excellent runners will compete together in the final. This is an opportunity for the image of Vietnamese runners to go international. We have many good runners and can compete with friends in the area.

- How do you evaluate the preparation process for the tournament?

The organization work is now complete. Ticket sales have surpassed 7,000. The tournament also affects famous runner clubs or communities.

For the first time, an e-commerce platform organized a professional marathon with the scale of 10,000 attendees. Outstanding runners have the opportunity to compete for valuable cash prizes as well as attend the final round in Singapore, competing with outstanding runners across Southeast Asia. With the first times like that, the results we obtained have exceeded expectations.

- How do Lazada staff respond to this sports day?

- Everyone is very excited about training and competing. Internally, we organize "Internal running challenge" for all employees. In just one month, the total distance accumulated from this challenge has reached more than 1,500 km, with more than 200 participants. In addition, many employees actively called friends on social networks to spread this event.

Before the idea of ​​running, we had our own club called Lazada Running Club, which I was the captain of. The club makes no distinction between leaders and employees. We are more like companions on the way to the finish line. My colleagues and I still organize weekly offline runs on Wednesday nights, encouraging each other to practice together so that we can bring the new PR home.

- What impact does running have on a business leader like you?

- Running is a part of my life. When I run, my mind is most relaxed and creative, I can reflect on what happened to summarize and transform into some specific actions when I return to work. Personally, I often find solutions to many problems related to business operations and company operation while running.

- What are your plans to continue developing community sports in the future?

- I always think about raising the value and social mission of the business I lead. This running is the beginning of that. We are always trying to reach out to the community, build resonance and give people inspiration about building healthy habits, creating many life experiences.

We want Lazada Run to become an annual event. Our model always aims to be that business and social mission go hand in hand instead of separate.
