LeBron James hits 38,000 points in his career, close to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar .'s record
In pursuit of the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and the title of 'Best Scorer of All Time', LeBron James has just conquered a new milestone.
At the match between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Philadelphia 76ers taking place today (January 16), LeBron reached the milestone of 38,000 points scored in his career. NBA history has only seen two people surpass that number: LeBron and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
The scoring that helped LeBron achieve this remarkable feat came from an average throw near the free-throw area. “The King” immediately finished when he saw PJ Tucker making a mistake in position and giving him too much space.
Now, LeBron James only has a decades-old scoring record of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar himself, who scored 38,367 points.
James scored 35 points (15-23 FG) with 10 assists and eight rebounds against the Philadelphia 76ers. He barely missed a shot at a distance of 2 points, successfully finishing 14 out of 18 times. Unfortunately, that was not enough for the game where the Lakers lost with a 1 point difference.
LeBron is currently averaging over 29 points per game, the highest number of his career. Even more impressive when he showed this form at the age of 38, playing his 20th season in the NBA.
If he can maintain this level of scoring, LeBron James can beat Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record in about 13-15 more matches. At that time, he will become the all-time top scorer in NBA history.
