Playing effectively and kicking the decisive penalty, centre-back Victor Lindelof was awarded the highest score by the British Guardian newspaper in the FA Cup semi-final between Man Utd and Brighton.

At Wembley yesterday, Man Utd lost Harry Maguire because of a penalty card, while Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez were injured. Lindelof is the only defender left, and must pair Luke Shaw - the left-back was pulled in to fill the void.

However, the Swedish midfielder played an excellent game. During 120 minutes, Lindelof touched the ball 66 times, passing 85% accurately, including two long passes. He won the duel four times, won the highball once, tackled the ball once, cleared the ball five times and lost the ball nine times.

In the penalty shootout, after Solly March kicked over the bar, Lindelof shone with a decisive kick to the top right corner, helping Man Utd win 7-6 and reach the FA Cup final. For the first time, "Red Devils" won by penalty shootout in the FA Cup, after losing all four times.

Impressive performance helped Lindelof receive an 8 point with the rating of "player of the match" from the Guardian - the highest score in the semi-final at Wembley yesterday. Right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka was also rated 8 points, according to the assessment "impressive, calm, eager to show through the tackle with Kaoru Mitoma and especially explosive in the second half".

David de Gea was also praised for having an excellent day when he saved dangerous shots from Alexis Mac Allister, Julio Enciso, Solly March or Pascal Gross. However, the failure to save any time in any penalty shootout made the Spanish goalkeeper only receive 7 points.

Luke Shaw, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and reserve players Fred, Jadon Sancho, Marcel Sabitzer were also given 7 points. Diogo Dalot, Antony, Anthony Martial, Wout Weghorst received 6 points, while Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia received only 5 points.

On the Brighton side, Mitoma was the only player to receive 8 points. Guardian assessed that the Japanese star played very well, showed speed, was a constant threat and could even score a hat-trick, if he took advantage of the opportunity.

Robert Sanchez, Pascal Gross, Adam Webster, Lewis Dunk, Pervis Estupinan, Mac Allister, Moises Caicedo, Julio Enciso received 7 points, while Solly March, Danny Welbeck, Joel Veltman and Denis Undav all received 6 points.

Contrary to the assessment of the Guardian, the organizers of the FA Cup awarded the Man of the Match award to Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo. He played the full 120 minutes, touched the ball 82 times, passed 85% accurately, shot once, successfully dribbled four times and won the duel seven times.

At Wembley yesterday, Brighton kept the ball 62% of the time, but the opportunity was divided equally between the two teams in 120 minutes, even Man Utd created more dangerous situations. But both could not take advantage and had to resolve to win or lose on penalties - where Man Utd showed bravery when successfully performing all seven turns.

The army under Erik ten Hag will aim for a double title with the final against Man City on June 3.
