Mohamed Salah's hat-trick assists Liverpool to defeat Leicester 3-0 in round 36 of the Premier League, thereby shortening the gap with Man Utd and Newcastle to one point.

Thanks to the seventh consecutive victory, Liverpool have 65 points from 36 matches, while Man Utd and Newcastle have 66 points from 35 matches.

In the remaining rounds, Liverpool met Aston Villa on May 20 and Southampton on May 28, respectively. Meanwhile, Man Utd met Bournemouth, Chelsea, Fulham, while Newcastle played Brighton, Leicester and Chelsea.

To finish in the top 4, the army under Jurgen Klopp needs to win the last two rounds, and expect Man Utd or Newcastle to stumble in at least two of the remaining three matches.

At the King Power Stadium yesterday, Liverpool dominated when controlling the ball 68%, finishing 16 times with five shots on target, compared to 4 and 4 of the host. Leicester owned the first dangerous opportunity 12 minutes, but Jamie Vardy's shot from a tight angle could not win Alisson in the face.

Then, respectively, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and Fabinho missed, before Liverpool exploded at the end of the first half. In the 33rd minute, Alisson waved the ball over the legs of Luis Diaz, Jordan Henderson and then to Salah's position on the right. The Egyptian star took a beat and then crossed to the far post for Curtis Jones to hit the left foot cushion and open the score.

Leicester have conceded first in their last 12 home matches in the Premier League - the longest streak in the competition's history - and are the only team in Europe's top five leagues to have conceded every single game after the 2022 World Cup (21 battle).

Three minutes later, Liverpool doubled the lead under the same scenario. Receiving Salah's pass, Jones controlled a beat and then turned to cross the corner to beat goalkeeper Daniel Iversen. VAR stepped in and determined the English midfielder was still standing above Jonny Evans when he received the ball.

Liverpool sagged in the second half, but still scored from a free-kick 71 minutes into the match. Salah ran up the heel to let Trent Alexander-Arnold hit the ball with his right foot into the far corner, out of Iversen's reach. Salah is the fourth player to score a hat-trick of assists in the Premier League this season, after Roberto Firmino against Bournemouth, Leandro Trossard against Arsenal against Fulham and Michael Olise against Crystal Palace against Leeds.

Liverpool would have won even more if Gakpo or Salah had taken advantage of the opportunity to face. But the 3-0 result is enough for them to keep their hopes of winning tickets to the Champions League next season.

Meanwhile, Leicester continue to struggle in the relegation battle. "The Foxes" are said to have canceled their annual season-ending awards night this week, but have not been able to improve the situation. They have only won one of the last 14 matches and are currently 19th with 30 points, two points behind Everton's safe position.
