Singapore led 2-0 after 28 minutes, but Liverpool still lost to Bayern 3-4 in the last friendly match in Asia on the afternoon of August 2.

Liverpool experienced a tumultuous summer when they parted ways with a series of pillars in the midfield, including James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. But at the press conference before the match against Bayern, it was not the midfield, but the defense that was the biggest worry that coach Jugen Klopp mentioned.

This worry comes from the pre-season friendlies, when Liverpool in turn defeated German second-place team Karlsruhe 4-2, drew Greuther Furth 4-4 and only kept a clean sheet when defeating Leicester 4-0.

At the Singapore National Stadium on the afternoon of August 2, the Liverpool defense continued to play loosely against Bayern, although Klopp used the best personnel, including Andy Robertson, Van Dijk, Joel Matip, Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Premier League club led two goals in half an hour thanks to Cody Gakpo's close-range shot and Virgil Van Dijk's header - the centre-back was elected Liverpool captain instead of Henderson. But they still let Bayern equalize before the first half ended. In the 33rd minute, Serge Gnabry twisted Matip's ribs and finished near the corner to lower Alisson Becker. Ten minutes later, the German star continued to leave his mark with a cross for Leroy Sane to equalize the score.

Luis Diaz regained the lead in the 66th minute, but Liverpool could not preserve the advantage. In the 80th minute, Matthijs De Ligt's header from near the city was blocked by Alisson, then Josip Stanisic kicked into the empty net. In injury time, the player born in 2003 Frans Kratzig shone with a left-footed volley to the near corner that made Alisson stuck, setting the result 4-3 for Bayern.

Not only failed, Liverpool also lost personnel with the injury of rookie Alexis MacAllister. At the end of the first half, the 2022 World Cup champion collided with Konrad Laimer and then lay on the field, forcing Andy Robertson to call the medical team. MacAllister was able to get up, but limped off the field and was replaced by Diaz early in the second half.

This is the last friendly match in the Asian tour of both clubs. Liverpool also met Darmstadt at Deepdale, England on August 7 before kicking off the Premier League game against Chelsea on August 13. Meanwhile, Bayern will complete the pre-season with a friendly match against Monaco in Unterhaching, Germany on August 7 and then play the German Super Cup match against Leipzig on August 12.
