Liverpool skips training session at the Bernabéu
According to Mundo Deportivo (Spain), Liverpool will only arrive in Madrid at 19:00 on March 14 local time. After that, coach Jurgen Klopp and a player will go to the Bernabeu for a press conference. Liverpool will skip what they used to do before: practice on the opponent's pitch the day before the game.
Liverpool will also not leave Madrid immediately after the match on the evening of March 15 as usual. Instead, they stayed overnight before returning to England the following afternoon.
In the first leg, Liverpool lost 2-5 at Anfield. If they want to enter the quarter-finals, coach Klopp's teachers and students need to win at least three goals difference at the Bernabeu.
Liverpool's form is abnormal. After losing to Real in the first leg, they crushed Man Utd 7-0 in the Premier League. But when fans expected stability, Klopp's team suddenly lost to the bottom team of the English Premier League, Bournemouth with a score of 0-1.
For many years, Real has been Liverpool's quintessence in the European arena. In the two finals of the Champions League 2018 and 2022, Real won the most successful team in England 3-1 and 1-0, respectively.
If eliminated from the Champions League, Liverpool will be almost empty-handed in all competitions in the 2022-2023 season. Before that, they lost in the fourth round of the FA Cup and the League Cup. In the English Premier League, Liverpool are ranked sixth with 42 points after 26 matches, 24 points behind the leading team Arsenal.
The Premier League is the best hope for Liverpool to win tickets to the Champions League next season. They are six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, but have played one game less.
