Losing face-to-face with LeBron James, Dillon Brooks still decided to joke to the end
The new face of the Houston Rockets said he feels unfairly blamed for the Memphis Grizzlies' first-round Playoffs loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
"I feel like I've got a hold of him," Brooks said of the trashtalk incident with LeBron James. "Everybody seems to have put all the frustrations about the result on me, seeing me as a scapegoat. But I said many things throughout the year and we won 50 games."
In the series of round 1 Playoffs last season, Dillon Brooks continued the habit of trashtalk with many provocative words aimed directly at the number 1 star on the opposing team's side.
However, words do not carry as much weight as actions. Brooks only had a 31.2% throw for the entire series and was completely overwhelmed by the four-time MVP star in hand-to-hand combat.
This satire also played a role in the Memphis Grizzlies' refusal to renew Dillon Brooks' contract. Shams Charania reported that the Western team did not even negotiate with the Canadian player.
While many expected poor form to make Brooks unemployed, the Houston Rockets surprised all. The player born in 1996 signed a 4-year contract worth 86 million USD.
