Lexi Thompson must pay $2,000 to the LPGA Tour for slow hitting shortly after missing out on winning the 2022 Women's PGA Championship major.

The tournament took place on the Blue Par72 course at congressional golf club in Maryland. After three rounds, Thompson and Choi Hye-Jin stood T2 at -5, while the top of the table (-8) belonged to Chun In Gee. In the final round, all three started the last turn, from the 1st hole.

At the end of the 16th hole, Thompson held the top of the leaderboard at -5, leading Chun In Gee by one stroke, and Choi Hye-Jin by four strokes. At this time, they have two holes and the point race is tense, but the group is timed by the referee because of delays.

This makes Justin Thomas - A -list star at PGA Tour - Discontent. She wrote on Twitter: "I hate to fight slowly, but the referee decides to calculate the time is too rigid. Don't do that when the girls have two holes and are trying to win Major."

Through the last two holes, Thompson recorded Bogey and Par, Choi ended with Bogey-Birdie and Chun were both Par. In particular, Green Hole 17 plays a key role for Thompson's victory gate, when he still leads a stick. However, she took three new shocks in which the head search Birdie was 7.5 m from the second, the second to keep Par 1.2 m from.

It was the penultimate hole bogey that left Thompson with -4, while Chun -5. The organizers announced a fine of $2,000 for the group as soon as the 18th hole was completed.

Thompson did not avoid the media after the round. She stands T2 (-4) with Minjee Lee, tied for $718,800. Choi finished T5 (-1), receiving $274,160. Chun won at -5, $1.35 million.

The 27-year-old Thompson, who has been a professional since 2010, has won 11 LPGA Tour championships, including the 2014 ANA Inspiration major.

Chun is the same age as Thompson, less than two years old. Before winning the 2022 Women's PGA Championship, Chun won three championships on the LPGA Tour, including two majors – the 2015 US Women's Open and the 2016 Evian Championship. When holding the second major, Chun finished -21, setting a record of final points in the prestigious men's and women's tournaments.
