Ly Hoang Nam cut the losing circuit
The number one seed Ly Hoang Nam was more appreciated when facing the player born in 2003 Dali Blanch, ranked 821st in the world. In the past, Hoang Nam once faced and won 2-1 American players in the semi-finals of M15 Cancun in 2021 in Mexico, then won the championship.
In the first set, two players played firmly and no one lost the game. Hoang Nam had two or three chances to break the intersection, but both were upstream, causing the set to enter a tiebreak series. Here, Hoang Nam won 7-3, ending the set with a score of 7-6.
In the second set, Hoang Nam understood the opponent's playing style and was more confident with difficult shots. He was served first and then won the ball game to lead 3-0. A safe distance helps Hoang Nam actively distribute and maintain strength, win the assigned games and close the set with a score of 6-3.
Tomorrow, Hoang Nam will face Australian player Blake Ellis in the second round of M25 Lucknow 2023. If he wins the tournament, Hoang Nam will receive an additional 25 points and a bonus of 3,600 USD (about 85 million VND).
This is Hoang Nam's second win in 2023. In January, he won his first match in the first round of Challenger 50 Nonthaburi 3 in Thailand, before losing in the second round. After that, the player born in 1997 all lost in the first round of the Challenger 100 tournament in India in February.
After returning home, he performed an engagement ceremony with his longtime girlfriend Huynh Ngoc Phuong Trinh and then returned to the competition. Hoang Nam changed his strategy when he paused the ATP Challenger match to return to the ITF system to attend some M25 tournaments to regain his confidence, and at the same time accumulate points to avoid bouncing off the top 300 and head to the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.
