India Vietnam's number one tennis player Ly Hoang Nam lost to George Loffhagen 3-6, 4-6 in the first round of M25 Mysuru this afternoon.

Hoang Nam was ranked as the number one seed at the tournament, facing a British player ranked 702nd in the ATP world. However, Loffhagen showed strong points for serving and confident play at the age of 21.

In the first set, the British player served first and led 4-3, then broke Hoang Nam's serve in game eight. Losing the break unexpectedly, Hoang Nam did not have the opportunity to correct the mistake when the opponent took advantage of the handover advantage to end the set with a 6-3 victory.

In the second set, the Vietnamese player continued to lose the break in the first game because of bad mistakes, leading to 0-2. In game three, Loffhagen had a subtle drop to lead 40-30, but then failed three consecutive shots to help Hoang Nam remove 1-2.

In the fourth game, Hoang Nam attacked aggressively and took a 30-0 lead, but lost again. The player born in 1997 had another chance to claim a break in game six when defending well, but the backhand counter-attack sent the ball out.

The two players maintained their handing advantage before entering the decisive 10th game. Hoang Nam was led 0-40 and worked very hard, but only recovered two points before losing 4-6 in the second set. Loffhagen dropped the number one seed after 1 hour and 26 minutes of play.

In the previous M25 Lucknow tournament, Ly Hoang Nam reached the semi-finals, before losing to Ukrainian player Eric Vanshelboim 1-6, 6-2, 3-6. Since the beginning of the year, Hoang Nam has played 10 men's singles matches and won only four, being eliminated early in the Challenger 50 and 100 tournaments.

After the M25 Lucknow, Hoang Nam dropped 13 places to 258 ATP. The loss in the first round of M25 Mysuru caused the Vietnamese player to drop in the ATP rankings.
