Mac McClung crashes the NBA Slam Dunk Contest 2023, going down in history with a convincing victory
For the first time in NBA history, the NBA All-Star series and the Slam Dunk Contest, the championship went to a player who had not played a game in the Regular Season.
Mac McClung - 1m88 tall, born in 1999 - became the champion of the Slam Dunk Contest in 2023 after winning convincingly, constantly stunning fans with his beautiful dunks.
He spent the first half of the season with the Delaware Blue Coats (the 76ers' G-League team) before being signed to a dual contract with the Philadelphia 76ers just before the All-Star break.
Let's take a look back at the four great dunks that Mac McClung showed below, all of which were extremely beautiful and made the audience jump from their seats. Even the NBA players watching live on the field felt excited.
The first dunk was a performance when McClung decided to open as explosively as possible. He jumped over two people (one sat on the other's shoulders).
Even more incredible when Mac McClung hit the ball on the backboard once before completing the dunk, the image is only really seen when watching slow-motion video.
Contrary to the first play, the dunk in the second round is more traditional. McClung performs a 360-degree turn in the air, lowers the ball and then doubles the basket.
The third dunk wasn't much different from the second, delivering a double-pump after taking the ball from a teammate.
To conclude his session, Mac McClung put on his high school shirt before hitting the basket. This is a tribute to the time many years ago when this defender once won the Slam Dunk Contest despite being the smallest player.
He strode confidently, jumped high, turned 540 degrees in the air (1 and a half laps) and then dunked backwards, completing all 4 dunks with a 100% success rate.
Out of four rounds, Mac McClung got a perfect score - 50 points - on three occasions. Only his second dunk brought back 49 points.
McClung convincingly defeated Trey Murphy III, minutes before knocking out both of his other teammates, Jericho SIms and Kenyon Martin Jr.
Mac McClung may not have played any NBA games this season, but he is already the champion of the NBA Slam Dunk Contest 2023.
