Man Utd captain Harry Maguire insists Erik ten Hag appreciates him even though he doesn't play often.

"No, I don't have mixed feelings," replied Maguire when asked if he was upset about not being able to start when Man Utd won the League Cup. "I'm the captain of the team and my main job is to move this club forward and bring success back to the club. And this is part of that."

In the final against Newcastle at Wembley last week, Maguire only came on in the 88th minute, replacing striker Marcus Rashford, when the result was almost fixed. But as a captain, he is still one of two players honored to lift the first Cup, next to Bruno Fernandes.

This season, Maguire lost the official position when Ten Hag used the center-back pair of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane. The England international has only started eight times in all competitions. Many sources claim that Maguire will leave Man Utd next summer in search of more playing opportunities.

"The truth is that Ten Hag talks to me every day. He respects me and sees me as one of the top centre-backs with the skills to play for this club. But he and I agree that the other players are different. playing well." Maguire revealed.

The 29-year-old central defender admits that the competition for the starting position at Man Utd is very high. But he thinks it is essential to move the team forward and towards titles. According to Maguire, as a captain, his contribution is not only on the pitch but also outside. "My family had a wonderful and proud day watching me lift my first Cup with Man Utd," said Maguire.
