Man Utd meeting to penalize Ronaldo

The leader of Man Utd met with coach Erik ten Hag today, November 14, and can fine Cristiano Ronaldo up to more than 1 million USD.

Chief Executive Officer Richard Arnold, Director of Football John Murtough, Coach Ten Hag and team co-owner Joel Glazer attended the meeting. The content of the meeting revolved around Cristiano Ronaldo's statements in an interview with MC Piers Morgan on November 13. In it, the Portuguese superstar said that he "did not respect Ten Hag" and was "betrayed by Man Utd".

Man Utd has not yet announced anything about Ronaldo's statement, and the Telegraph believes that they do not want the victory over Fulham on the evening of November 13 to be blurred by the incident. The newspaper quoted a source from the dressing room that the players also did not want to be distracted by behind-the-scenes stories. They have also prepared for Ronaldo's departure, and in that case, no one will feel sorry.

The highest penalty according to Man Utd internal regulations is two weeks' salary, equivalent to about $ 1.2 million for Ronaldo. The team may not announce the fine, but the 37-year-old striker was once accused of paying a similar amount, when he refused to enter the field and left early in the victory over Tottenham on October 19.

The British media also assessed that Ten Hag has solved Ronaldo's problems in a reasonable way since the beginning of the season. They predict CR7 will not play any more matches for Man Utd, but it is not clear if Man Utd will liquidate him or not. Ronaldo himself is said to be well aware that he will not play any more matches for Man Utd, after an interview on November 13.

After more than four weeks of World Cup break, Man Utd will return to the match against Burnley scheduled for December 22. They will have two more matches against Nottingham Forest and then Wolves, before the January 2023 transfer window opens. Ronaldo has the freedom to negotiate to find a new team then, because his contract will expire at the end of June 2023.

Ronaldo has only started four of 10 games in the Premier League this season, scoring one goal and receiving two yellow cards. He wanted to leave Man Utd in the summer of 2022 to join a Champions League club, but big teams like Chelsea, Bayern or Real Madrid refused to recruit the 37-year-old striker.
