Alejandro Garnacho caused controversy when he imitated Pedri's hand-to-eye gesture after Man Utd eliminated Barca in the Europa League.

After the referee blew the whistle for the second leg of the play-off match at Old Trafford on the evening of February 23, Garnacho changed shirts with a Barca player. The Argentine striker then turned towards the audience, bringing his hands to his eyes and making binoculars. This is the familiar celebration of Pedri every time he scores.

Upon entering the dressing room, Garnacho posted this photo on Twitter with the message: "Big team into the next round".

Mundo Deportivo was disgruntled and criticized the Spanish-Argentine player as "arrogant", especially when Pedri could not play due to injury. "This is a very bad gesture for an 18-year-old player who has only played professionally for a short time," the Spanish daily added.

On Twitter, @jordanwatson - a Pedri fan in Scotland - called Garnarcho a "clown", and said that the young star Man Utd is far from matching the stature of the midfielder who won the Golden Boy award 2021. from Spain's Mallorca @davoonline commented "Does Man Utd really tolerate this rubbish?".

Garnacho was born in Madrid to a Spanish father and an Argentine mother. In 2020, he joined Man Utd academy after shining time at Atletico. Garnacho - who played for Spain's youth team - is considered a left-winger rich in speed, direct kick and good finish.

In March 2022, Garnacho was called up to the Argentina team for the first time, alongside his senior Lionel Messi. He was on the list to attend the 2022 World Cup qualifying match - South America met Venezuela and Ecuardo, but was not allowed to play. However, Garnacho idolizes Cristiano Ronaldo - Messi's rival.

Yesterday, Barca opened the scoring thanks to Robert Lewandowski's penalty kick in the 18th minute. In the second half, the Brazilian duo Fred and Antony respectively helped Man Utd win 2-1 to enter the 1/8 round of the Europa League with total score 4-3.

This match, Garnacho replaced Jadon Sancho from the 67th minute and did not leave much of an impression. He touched the ball 14 times, successfully dribbled once, shot blocked once, had no decisive crosses or passes and lost the ball six times.

After the match, Guti also posted a message mocking Barca on Twitter. "Everything remains the same," wrote the Spaniard. Guti spent his entire career with Real, winning 15 titles, including five La Liga and three Champions Leagues. He moved to Besiktas for the 2010–2011 season and then retired.

"With Real crushing Liverpool in the first leg of the Champions League and Barca being knocked out of the Europa League, Real fans must have had a very happy week," commented Football Espana.

Eliminate Barca, Man Utd continues to be the only club in Europe to conquer all four arenas. According to the results of the draw on the evening of February 24, the "Red Devils" will play Real Betis in the 1/8 round of the Europa League. They are currently third in the Premier League, meeting Newcastle in the League Cup final on February 26 and kicking the fifth round of the FA Cup against West Ham on March 1.

Meanwhile, Barca still has two arenas to compete in this season. The army under Xavi is leading La Liga with 59 points after 22 matches, eight points more than Real. In the King's Cup, they will meet Real in two semi-finals. Before that, Barca beat their great rival 3-1 in the final of the Spanish Super Cup.
