Striker Marcus Rashford will become one of the highest-paid British players when he signs a new contract with Man Utd.

According to British media, Rashford has agreed to sign a new five-year contract, keeping him at Man Utd until 2028.

The England international is getting a salary increase of about $390,000 per week with a total contract value of more than $100 million. This is top compensation for an English player, only Raheem Sterling is paid more at Chelsea.

Man Utd are expected to announce Rashford's new contract this week. This is the result of more than a year of negotiations. Rashford's agent and brother, Dwaine Maynard, have been contacted by PSG to discuss the possibility of bringing the 25-year-old striker to France.

Rashford's current contract has only one year left, meaning he will become a free agent in the summer of 2024 if Man Utd cannot convince him to renew. Rashford is being paid around $325,000 a week.

The new contract is a reward for Rashford's excellence last season. After struggling in the 2020-2021 season, the 1997-born striker became the first Man Utd player to score 30 goals a season since Robin Van Persie.

Rashford just gathered with Man Utd last weekend, so it is unlikely that he will play in the friendly against Lyon in Scotland on July 19. This is the second game of Man Utd's 2023 summer tour. On July 12, they defeated Leeds 2-0 in Norway in the debut of rookie Mason Mount.

Man Utd has just completed the procedure to recruit Andre Onana from Inter for $ 56 million. The Cameroon goalkeeper is expected to fly to Manchester for a medical on July 18 before signing a five-year contract. Man Utd has proceeded to apply for a visa for Onana so that he can attend four friendlies in the US.

Rashford grew up from Man Utd's youth academy. He made his first team debut in 2015, scoring 76 goals in 239 games. He played for England 53 times, scoring 16 goals.
