Man Utd signs Premier League shirt sponsorship deal
The current contract between the two sides starts from the 2015-2016 season, and was renewed yesterday, three years earlier than the deadline.
At $115.5 million a year, this is the largest shirt sponsorship deal in Premier League history, a significant increase from the agreement 10 years ago between the two sides - 96.2 million per year. "This contract provides the club with one of the most important resources to maintain stability for the next 10 years," the statement of Man Utd read.
The team with the second largest shirt sponsorship contract in the Premier League is Liverpool with $ 102 million per year from Nike sportswear. In third place is Arsenal, $96 million with Adidas. Defending champion Man City received 83 million from Puma, followed by Chelsea (77 million, Nike) and Tottenham (51 million, Nike).
With the new agreement, Man Utd will have more budget to continue to strengthen the force for the ambition to compete for major titles next season. Previously, the "Red Devils" spent $ 77 million to buy midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea, $ 60 million to buy goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan, and just reached an agreement to recruit striker Rasmus Hojlund for 83 million from Atalanta.
The large sum of money from the new contract with Adidas will also facilitate the development of Man Utd's women's team. The "Red Devils" have just re-established the women's team since 2018 and want to step up to join the general development of world women's football.
