Spain Nhatheo El Mundo Deportivo, Man Utd still uses "bargaining tactics" to buy Frenchie de Jong from Barca.

Journalist specializing in football transfer, Fabrizio Romano said that on June 26, Man Utd raised the fixed price to buy from 63 million to 68 million USD. This level is still less than 10 million USD compared to the number that Barca requested.

78 million USD is also the amount that Barca has spent to buy De Jong from Ajax in 2019. The Spanish team sets the minimum goal of breakeven, not to mention the fee depending on the achievement.

According to EL Mundo Deportivo, the price gap between the two teams is still "significant". Man Utd will hardly get De Jong soon and negotiations can last to July.

The new coach of Man Utd, Erik Ten Hag see De Jong as a player necessarily. While playing for Ajax season 2018-2019, the 25-year-old midfielder is the nucleus in the squad in the Champions League semi-finals. Ten HAG wants to apply this recipe to "Red Devils".

Meanwhile, De Jong has not considered the switch to Man Utd as a good idea. If he joined Old Trafford, he would have to trade at least one season without the Champions League. Last season, Man Utd only returned to the Sixth Premier League.

In Barca, coach Xavi also considered De Jong a pillar. If selling the Dutch midfielder, President Joan Laporta will have to bring a player of the same quality.

During three years of Barca, De Jong came on the field 140 times and scored 13 goals. His best achievement in this period was the King Cup of 2020-2021, besides once on the third and twice to the second La Liga.
