According to striker Kylian Mbappe, PSG must regain a scary team position in the eyes of domestic rivals, before dreaming of winning the Champions League.

"Of course, we want to win the Champions League," Mbappe told the French Television BFMTV on June 24 when on vacation in New York. "It is a clear goal, and I don't need to be more clear about this ambition. The Champions League is the PSG title to achieve."

In the summer of 2021, PSG undergo a lot of transfer when recruiting Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum and Lionel Messi on the form of free transfer, and buying Achraf Hakimi from Inter Milan with a transfer fee of 70 million USD. However, they soon stopped in the 1/8 Champions League round before Real - the team then won the championship.

Mbappe acknowledged that PSG must first find the position in France. In the 2021-2022 season, the Capital Club of Paris was eliminated in the 1/8 Cup round, lost to Lille in the French Super Cup match and only won Ligue 1. The last PSG won the domestic treble in 2020.

"Last season, PSG was no longer scary for many clubs and a position was reduced more or less," Mbappe admitted. "We have to return to the basic things, before trying to conquer Europe. PSG wants to return to be a scary club in France, what we cannot do in the past two years."

Besides the collective goal, Mbappe also ambition to become the most scoring player in the history of PSG next season. In 2017, PSG borrowed Mbappe from Monaco, then paid 200 million USD to buy a year later. The striker striker is currently in the list of the best strikers with 171 goals. Mbappe is 29 goals compared to the leader Edinson Cavani - who reached 200 goals before docking Man Utd in the summer of 2020. "It would be spectacular if it became the greatest striker in PSG history," Mbappe said. "If I maintain my form, there's no reason that I can't do it."

On May 21, Mbappe renewed with PSG under the contract until 2025 with a week of $ 815,000, thereby closing rumors to join Real for the past year. In addition to becoming the highest -income football player in history, Mbappe also decided many sports projects, a voice in changing the coach and the transfer of PSG.

Mbappe responded to criticism when confirming to stay in PSG for love and wanted to make a mark in the club history. He emphasized: "PSG has a great meaning to me, people know that. I always focus on professional issues, and maybe not spending much time to show affection to the club or fans. But I still prioritize maintaining the peak form. When you kick well, whether people like you or not, you will still be recognized. "
