Rory McIlroy will not receive the remaining three million dollars from the "Player Impact Program" while this week's absence from the PGA Tour, at the RBC Heritage from April 13-16.

RBC Heritage 2023 takes place at Harbor Town Golf Links par71 on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. The event belongs to a group of eight mandatory tournaments, of which only one is allowed for all stars to receive the "Player Impact Program" (PIP).

In 2022, McIlroy won $ 12 million when he finished second, and Tiger Woods took first place with $ 15 million. However, the payout is divided into two installments, including 75% immediately after the Sentry Tournament of Champions in early January 2023, the rest when the professional service is completed.

According to Golf Channel, McIlroy received $9 million from PIP despite his absence from the opening tournament of the year. However, abandoning RBC Heritage will cost the Northern Irish A-list star the remaining $ 3 million, with the possibility of an additional fine but the form is unknown.

McIlroy announced his retirement from playing RBC Heritage after failing to cut the major Masters 2023, last week. As for the Player Impact Program award for Woods, the PGA Tour has not mentioned how to handle when "Super Tiger" has violated the "only one missed" rule but is in a state of only competing for the major this year due to poor health after near-fatal traffic accident in February 2021.

That year, the PGA Tour began implementing the "Player Impact Program" to encourage member players to actively promote and positively influence the arena with their personal reputation. The host organization awards the award based on five criteria that reflect the attractiveness of the media.

These are Internet searches, social media interactions, public awareness in the US, number of press appearances, and the length of time a player's sponsor logo appeared in the last two rounds of live broadcasts. PGA Tour tournaments.
