The US 2022 World Cup champion admitted to having a love of sweets and a less healthy diet for a top player.

On September 17, in an interview on TN30, Messi revealed that his favorite dishes include sweets such as chocolate, ice cream, and dulce de leche - a popular confectionery in Latin America that is prepared by boiling. slowly heat sugar and milk for several hours, or pasta, Asado grilled meat - typical of Argentinian cuisine and milanesa.

"I like everything sweet, I love them," Messi added. "I try to eat less, but sometimes I like it."

According to Goal, Messi's favorite dishes are not always healthy for a top player. Many sports stars, including Cristiano Ronaldo, often prioritize fish and vegetables.

Sometimes Messi also focuses on eating vegetables. On September 16, the 36-year-old striker posted a photo of himself preparing to eat pizza at Bancheros Miami restaurant. The pie he chose consisted of just a base covered with tomatoes, onions and olives. Many fans criticized Messi's choice of toppings. "Hope Messi likes that cake," former US player Alexi Lalas wrote on X - the social network formerly known as Twitter.

After moving to Inter Miami for free in July, Messi, his wife Antonela Roccuzzo and their children Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro quickly integrated into life in America. Last week, the Messi family spent $10.8 million to buy a riverside villa in Fort Launderdale, Florida that is about 3,200 square meters and has two private docks.

Messi said he always takes off his shoes before entering the house and walks barefoot inside the house. When asked by TN30 about other habits behind the scenes, the Argentine star replied: "I don't know. I have worse habits, but I want to keep them secret."

The owner of the seven Golden Balls then revealed his nighttime routine: "Before going to bed, I prepare the entire dining table for the next day. At breakfast, everyone always sits in the same place at the table, I , Antonela and children".

Messi played 11 matches, scored 11 goals and assisted five times for Inter Miami, helping the team win the Leagues Cup and reach the final of the US National Cup. He just returned to Miami after joining the Argentina team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Due to his physical condition not having recovered, he was absent from the team's 2-5 loss to Atlanta United on September 16. This is Inter Miami's first defeat since recruiting the World Cup champion.

After the loss to Atlanta, coach Gerardo Martino said Messi was "muscle tired", so he did not risk letting the striker return to play soon. Argentina coach said Messi only plays if his students feel healthy and confident.

Miami currently has 28 points, six points ahead of bottom team Toronto FC in the East, and behind ninth place D.C. United - last place with tickets to MLS Play-offs - six points, but is playing one less match. On September 20, Inter Miami returned to DRV PNK's home field to meet Toronto.

Martino said that Inter Miami has not given up in the race to win tickets to the MLS Play-offs, but wants to help the whole team get ready for the 2023 America's Cup final against Houston Dynamo at DRV PNK's home field on September 28.

Messi has been playing professionally since 2004. He holds records for winning 44 collective titles, seven Golden Balls, six European Golden Shoes and two World Cup Golden Balls. In the 2023 Golden Ball race, Messi is also the number one candidate. Bookmaker Betfair puts the odds of Messi winning at 1/14 (bet 14 to 1), far ahead of the 13/2 odds of number two candidate Erling Haaland.
