Messi free kick scored for Argentina
Argentina superstar Lionel Messi scored his 800th career goal with a free kick to seal a 2-0 victory for Argentina in a friendly against Panama on the evening of March 23.

In the 89th minute, Argentina enjoyed a wide corner kick and a distance of about 20 meters. Messi's left-footed free kick over the top of the fence to the high corner that the away team's keeper could not save. This is the 800th goal in Messi's professional career, including 99 in the national team.
Messi needed a sixth free-kick in the game to score this goal. In the first two free kicks, he kicked tight but lacked accuracy. In the next three free kicks, Messi reduced force to prioritize accuracy. On the fifth kick from about 30 yards, he shot off the crossbar, letting midfielder Thiago Almada hit the back stone to open the scoring in the 78th minute. This was Almada's first goal for the team.
