Scored the decisive goal to help PSG beat Lille 4-3 in the 95th minute, but superstar Lionel Messi was only rated 5 out of 10 by French newspaper L'Équipe.

Messi's performance is only rated fifth of the 11 starting players for PSG, behind Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Sergio Ramos and Gianluigi Donnarumma. In which, Mbappe received 8 points, the highest in the match. The 36-year-old superstar is not even appreciated by striker Jonathan David and midfielder Andre Gomes on the away team.

L'Équipe is a leading French sports newspaper, famous for its strict grading. Historically, the 76-year-old newspaper has scored only 10 out of 14 people. In which, Messi is the only player to receive 10 points twice. But this season, they have repeatedly given him 3 and 4 points.

French news site GFFN also only gave Messi a score of 6, lower than Mbappe, Bafode Diakite, Jonathan Bamba and Gomes. They commented "Messi rarely rushes in the game, but shines when needed. The striker is surrounded by Lille defense, but can still do something when he has the ball".

Statistical firms give Messi a more open score, based on automatic parameters. Whoscored gave Messi 8.5 points, just behind Mbappe with 9.8 points. And Sofascore also rated Mbappe 9.3 points, the highest in the match, then Neymar Neymar 8.4 points, Gomes 7.8 and Messi 7.4.

Mbappe six times successfully passed in the match PSG beat Lille on February 19, and scored a double. In particular, his opening goal is considered a masterpiece, when dribbling in a narrow space past two players before scoring. Immediately after the match, Whoscored rated Mbappe 10 points maximum, but a few hours later they adjusted it down to 9.8.

Messi also successfully passed three times, but lost four times when dribbling. The Argentine superstar created three chances for his teammates to finish but failed to score. He also only passed the ball 18 times to his teammates, the lowest number since the beginning of the season. But the most important stat is the goal, Messi did this with a free kick in the 95th minute, bringing three points for the home team.

Winning 9.8 points from Whoscored, Mbappe was not the most outstanding player in Europe on February 19. Midfielder Bruno Fernandes was awarded 9.9 points for the performance that helped Man Utd beat Leicester 3-0 in the 24th round of the Premier League. The Portuguese midfielder made four successful passes, creating nine chances for his teammates, including two assists.
