Italy's 4-0 win over Torino in the 27th round of Serie A helped Napoli to 19 points ahead of second-place Lazio.

With 71 points, Napoli created a gap for the first time with such a large group in Serie A this season. Before that, they respectively gave up 16 and 18 points from Inter in rounds 22 and 23 in mid-February.

Due to losing 0-1 to Juventus in the derby, Inter dropped to third with only 50 points. Lazio - the team that beat Roma in the Rome derby - rose to second in the group, with 52 points. With the current gap, Napoli only need to win four or five matches in the last 11 rounds to be enough to win the championship.

In the away trip of the eighth-placed team last round, Napoli soon proved their position by opening the scoring after 9 minutes. From Piotr Zielinski's corner, Victor Osimhen headed home the goal.

After the goal, Torino tried to respond. However, the shots from Nikola Vlasic, Samuele Ricci, Antonio Sanabria and Mergim Vojvoda all failed to bring results in front of goalkeeper Alex Meret.

Napoli's attack is similar, but with much greater intensity and efficiency. 35 minutes, the referee awarded the visitors a penalty after Karol Linetty's foul on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. It was the Georgian star who stood up and took a free kick to make it 2-0.

Napoli then continued to bombard Turin's goal. Vanja Milinkovic-Savic saves a shot from the edge of the box by Osimhen. However, in the 51st minute, he had to go into the net to pick up the ball for the third time after a team-based attack from the away team. The goal came from a series of passes in the midfield, before Kvaratskhelia jerked the heel for Matias Olivera to stretch, allowing Osimhen to head to make it 3-0.

Osimhen has scored 21 goals since the start of the 2022-2023 Serie A season, equaling the record for most goals by an African player in a Serie A season set by the legendary Samuel Eto'o in 2011. In the race for Serie A top scorer , Osimhen is seven goals ahead of second-placed Lautaro Martinez.

Osimhen also contributed to Napoli's fourth goal in the 68th minute. After a challenge near the edge of the Nigerian striker, Kvaratskhelia crossed for Tanguy Ndombele to shoot from 12 yards to make it 4-0. Thus, Kvaratskhelia has 12 goals and 12 assists since the beginning of the 2022-2023 Serie A season. This is an unexpected achievement for a player who still plays for Georgia Dinamo Batumi club in early 2022.
