Italy Striker Victor Osimhen has not yet recovered from a thigh injury and will be absent when Napoli are a guest at Milan in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

Osimhen, Giovanni Simeone and Giacomo Raspadori all had to train separately on April 10, two days before Napoli played at the San Siro. These three players together lead the scoring list for Napoli in the Champions League since the beginning of the season, with four goals. In particular, Osimhen is the mainstay when he is leading the Serie A top scorer race with 21 goals. All three players can play as a striker, putting Napoli in danger of no longer having any players in this position when playing Milan.

Osimhen injured his thigh muscle since focusing on the Nigeria team last month, and has not played since March 27. Raspadori and Simeone both played the last match against host Lecce 2-1 in Serie A on April 7, but both had physical problems.

In case the worst-case scenario, coach Luciano Spalletti tested left striker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the role of a virtual number 9 at a training session on April 10, according to La Repubblica. Kvaratskhelia is also no stranger to this role in the Georgia team.

The last time they met Milan without Osimhen, Napoli suddenly lost 0-4 at Diego Armando Maradona on April 2. If they cannot find a replacement for the 25-year-old striker, Napoli will continue to face difficulties in the first leg quarter-finals at San Siro.

Osimhen wants to risk playing in the first leg, and he is ready to test his fitness to determine his chances of playing. Napoli again want to avoid letting the Nigerian striker return too soon, with the risk of injury recurrence. Napoli almost certainly won the scudetto with 16 points more than second place Lazio group, but they still want to go deep in the Champions League in the draw that is considered easy. They can save Osimhen as a substitute, to focus on the return leg against Milan on April 18.

If they overcome Milan to enter the semi-finals, Napoli will meet Inter or Benfica. At that time, they will earn an additional $ 13.6 million in prize money, bringing the revenue from this season's Champions League to $ 99 million.
