Newcastle to second in the English Premier League
October's Premier League Player of the Month Miguel Almiron continued to shine in Newcastle's victory with a goal to make it 2-0 in the seventh minute. The away team opened the scoring four minutes earlier, when striker Chris Wood scored a penalty. The team owned by Saudi Arabia set a 3-0 victory from the 32nd minute thanks to Joelinton's work. Newcastle climbed to second in the table, one point more than Man City despite playing two more games.
Leicester seemed to have returned to a four-match winning streak in all competitions, but they collapsed quickly against the high-flying Newcastle. Right in the second minute, defender Daniel Amartey pulled Joelinton down in the penalty area and the referee immediately blew the penalty. In the third game of this season, Wood kicked a penalty in the direction of goalkeeper Danny Ward, opening the score for Newcastle.
In the seventh minute, the team nicknamed "Chich Choè" randomly coordinated to score more goals. Almiron sparked the attack with a dribble from the right, then bounced off the wall with Bruno Guimares to face the keeper. He dropped into the far corner to score his ninth goal of the season, behind only Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Ivan Toney.
Newcastle put an end to Leicester from a corner on the right, defender Kieran Trippier crossed for Joelinton to head and hit the ground. Joelinton put the ball inside his shirt to celebrate the birth of his baby.
Newcastle also received good news when midfielder Allan Saint-Maximin returned to play in the Premier League since November 6, although he only played a few minutes instead of Almiron. Coach Eddie Howe will have more options in attack for the next match against the away team Leeds on the evening of December 31.
