Nguyen Thi Tam entered the women's boxing semifinals in the world

India Lowering Modukanele Lethabo Bokamoso 5-0 in the quarterfinals on the evening of March 21, Vietnamese boxer Nguyen Thi Tam will enter the semi-finals of the 50kg women's boxing championship in New Delhi.

Nguyen Thi Tam is taller, has a longer arm span than her opponent. She moves flexibly to avoid most of Bokamoso's hits, and responds with a series of horizontal hook punches, especially powerful with her right hand.

Nguyen Thi Tam only hit two heavy blows at the end of the third round when the result was almost over. At the end of the match, she was awarded the winning point. In which, there are four referees who gave the Vietnamese boxer a perfect score of 30. The fifth referee gave her 29 points, but still two points more than the Botswana boxer.

The victory brought Nguyen Thi Tam to the semi-finals. She is also the only Vietnamese boxer still standing in the tournament, after her teammate Nguyen Thi Thanh Hao lost to Italian rival Irma Testa 0-5 in the 57 kg category.

Before defeating Bokamoso, Nguyen Thi Tam also made a big splash when she defeated the 2014 and 2016 world champion Kyzaibay Nazym 5-0. In the semi-finals, the Vietnamese boxer will meet Fuertes Fernandez Laura of Spain.

Nguyen Thi Tam was born in 1994 in Thai Binh. She has won the national boxing championship many times, won the 2019 SEA Games gold medal, and won the Asian championship in 2022.
