Phaph-LV Christophe Galtier has signed a two-year contract with PSG and will hold a press conference at Parc des Princes today 5/7.

Galtier appeared at PSG's Camps des Loges headquarters on 4 July. According to L 'é quipe, the French coach has signed a two-year contract, and the Ligue 1 champion will be announced at a press conference in Paris at 2 pm today on July 5, Paris time. He will then meet with the players and do his first training session at Camp des Loges.

Last week, Nice confirmed its separation from Galtier and named Lucian Favre-a coach who led the club from 2016-2018, culminating in third place in Ligue 1 in 2016-2017. PSG must spend $11 million to compensate Galtier for the remaining two years of his contract with Nice, according to Spanish newspaper AS.

With the deal completed, Galtier will become the seventh coach of the Qatar era and the third French military leader to lead PSG after Antoine Combuare in 2009-2011 and Laurent Blanc in 2013-2016.

Also according to L 'é quipe, PSG would have to pay $16 million to break up with coach Mauricio Pochettino a year ahead of his contract. PSG's Qatar boss sees Zinedine Zidane as the first candidate to succeed Pochettino. However, the 49-year-old remains hesitant between accepting an offer from Paris Saint-Germain and waiting for the chance to succeed Didier Deschamps in France after the 2022 World Cup. As a result, PSG lost patience and changed the direction of negotiations with Galtier.

Paris Saint-Germain is the fourth stop of Galtier's career, second only to Saint-Etienne, Lille and Nice. The French coach resonated when he led Lille in 2017-2021, when he helped the club finish runner-up in Ligue 1 in 2018-2019 and return to the Champions League after seven years. Two years later, he and Lille overthrew PSG to win their first Ligue 1 title in 10 years and fourth in history. Last season, he helped Nice finish fourth in Ligue 1 and reach the French Nations Cup final, where they lost 1-0 to Nantes to earn tickets to the Europa League play-offs.

This summer, PSG recruited two rookies, who bought left-back Nunomendes directly for $40 million and recruited midfielder Vitinia from Porto for $42 million. According to Le Parisien, the Parisians are on the verge of announcing a third contract after reaching a deal with Sassuolo for Gianluca Scamacca for $52 million.

The 23-year-old forward, highly praised by Luis Campos-who was appointed as an adviser by PSG after sporting director Leonardo was sacked-scored 16 goals in 36 Serie A appearances last season. In fact, PSG wanted to reduce Scamacca's recruitment fee to $41 million in order to have more budget to sign Inter Milan midfielder Skriniar and Lille midfielder Renato Sanchez, but Sassuolo refused. The appearance of Scamacca also leaves Mauro Icardi with no future at the Parc des Princes.

On July 4, many of PSG's first-team stars-including Sergio Ramos, Marco Virathit and Georgio Wijnaldum-returned to the army to prepare for the new season. The Ligue 1 champions travel to Japan in mid-July before kicking off the new season in the French Super Cup against Nantes on July 31.
