Perfect triple-double puts Giannis Antetokounmpo in NBA and Milwaukee Bucks history
Figuring out what Giannis Antetokounmpo hasn't done in his career is probably more difficult than defending the "demigod" on the field. While fans have found the answer to the first part of this statement, the second part is the age that the Toronto Raptors had to go through in the 111-118 defeat on March 20.
Giannis Antetokounmpo finished the game with 22 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists, marking his fourth triple-double of the season. Even more impressive, the Milwaukee Bucks star completed this set of stats with a 100% FG all-time rate.
He became the second player this season to have a triple-double with 100% FG (after Nikola Jokic), and the 9th person to do so in the 76-year NBA history.
Giannis' perfect evening began with a three-pointer on the right, a throw he didn't make often. After that, the "demigod"'s confidence increased when he repeatedly successfully attacked near the basket.
At the direction of coach Nick Nurse, the Toronto Raptors changed their defensive strategy to stop Giannis, especially inside the 3-second zone. But that didn't stop Milwaukee's bigman from making a positive impact on the game with 10 assists.
Every time Giannis approached the basket, he was like a magnet attracting defensive players. Since then, the passes out always create extremely empty shots.
The NBA All-Star captain's day was a bit less than perfect as he missed four penalties and three turnovers. But anyway triple-double with 100% FG is still a special set of indicators.
Another special milestone that appeared on this day of March 20 was Giannis Antetokounmpo's 712th match in a Milwaukee shirt, making him the player with the most appearances for the club.
"I just play according to my instincts," Antetokounmpo said after the 33rd triple-double of his career.
“I don't think much, just use my instincts to make the best decision. Sometimes I will attack directly, other times I will wait a few beats to exploit the opponent's negligence."
However, records and individual achievements are not something Giannis values, even as he creates a new set of stats that appear for the second time this season.
“I am very happy that the team has won and is back on the right track. Maybe it's after I retire, that's when I start looking at my numbers, achievements and records.
Right now I think I still have to improve a lot about myself, besides trying to help the team win as many victories as possible," the Milwaukee Bucks superstar concluded.
Also having a triple-double today was Nikola Jokic, the owner of 22 points, 10 assists and 17 rebounds in the Denver Nuggets' win over the Brooklyn Nets.
Currently, the trio of All-Star bigman Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid are continuously hitting new milestones in their careers and NBA history, creating an extremely worth-watching three-horse race to the title of MVP - Player the best of the season.
