PGA Tour Tournament held at a field designed by Tiger Woods
This year's Worldwide Technology Championship (WTC) is expected to have 132 players, belonging to the Fall group to close 125 faces to compete for the FedEx Cup on the PGA Tour 2024 in the direction of wrapping the entire schedule in the administrative year instead of spreading from September last. until the end of August.
The WTC became the first PGA Tour in Mexico in its opening year 2007. From then until November 2022, the event has always been held at El Camaleon Golf Club designed by the legendary Greg Norman. But after the tournament last year, the organization that owns the first-class golf tournament system in the US ended the agreement because the hosting course required additional financial support.
After leaving the PGA Tour partner, El Camaleon shook hands with LIV Golf League and then welcomed the opening prize of the second season of the Saudi-invested arena, in the last week of February with a prize fund of 25 million USD.
Before this tournament, CEO Borja Escalada of the business that owns El Camaleon said he wanted to cooperate with both the PGA Tour and the LIV Golf League to bridge the friendship between the two arenas that are fighting each other with suspicions of unfair competition. However, a leader of the PGA Tour immediately responded: "It's okay to bridge when they're doing a bridge burning. The PGA Tour won't go back there."
WTC's bonus fund last period in El Camaleon reached $ 8.2 million. The prize has not yet finalized the bonus budget when returning to El Cardonal. This course has been open since 2014, is 7,300 yards long, is close to the sea and has many similarities with many courts in southern California - where Woods played as a child. This is considered the inspiration for "Super Tiger" to conceptualize and direct the El Cardonal drawing through his own company TGR Design.
"Super Tiger" opened TGR Design in late 2006 and held the role of chief architect. In the first three years, this business announced three projects, but later all failed because of problems with the investor. El Cardonal officially tops the finished product category under the direction of Woods at TGR Design.
This business currently has a total of 13 golf projects in operation and under construction.
