After recovering from Covid-19, midfielder Phan Van Duc immediately went to Laos to join the Vietnamese team today, December 19.

Phan Van Duc was found to be positive for Covid-19 on December 15. So, two days later, when his teammates went to Laos to prepare for the opening match of the AFF Cup 2022, he had to stay in Vietnam.

Yesterday Van Duc gave negative results. Therefore, Coach Park Hang-seo decided to summon him to join the army.

Thus, the Vietnamese team only lacks midfielder Bui Tien Dung. The player on the Viettel payroll used to be in the same room with Van Duc, also infected with Covid-19 but has not recovered.

Van Duc was born in 1996, grew up from the SLNA training academy. He started playing with the first team of the Nghe team from the 2016 season and a year later won the National Cup. Earlier this month, he liquidated his contract with his hometown team and transferred the Hanoi Police to a two-year contract.

The turning point tournament for Van Duc's career was the Asian U23 in Changzhou 2018. He was introduced by the VFF's Technical Director at that time, Jurgen Gede, and was given a "pick up ticket" by Coach Park before the team went to China. .

From the bench, the Nghe player shone when given the opportunity, the highlight of which was the quarter-final match against Iraq - where he created an assist for Nguyen Cong Phuong and then personally scored in the 108th minute. Along with the goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung and Nguyen Quang Hai, Van Duc are among the stars who have contributed greatly to bringing the team to the runner-up position.

After that, he was always called in the gatherings despite his performance, even being teased by his teammates as "the adopted son of Mr. Park".

The Vietnamese team will play the opening match of the AFF Cup 2022 on the field of Laos on December 21, before returning to prepare for the second match at My Dinh Stadium against Malaysia.
