Philippine volleyball in trouble at SEA Games 32
The draw to divide the volleyball table took place on the afternoon of April 5 with the results of Indonesia, Cambodia and Singapore in Group A, while Group B included Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Myanmar. The fact that the Philippine team did not have a name surprised the volleyball fan community.
Representative of the Philippine Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Tony Boy Liao was surprised to hear the incident and said that the draw result was fake. Answering ABS-CBN News, he confirmed that the men's team attended the SEA Games and was in Japan training to prepare for the tournament in Cambodia. PNVF President Tats Suzara was also surprised when he did not see the Philippines men's team in the announcement of the 32nd SEA Games organizers.
Tony Liao said that PNVF has submitted registrations to the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), before sending the list to the 32nd SEA Games organizers. PNVF will check with the POC on the registration stage, before clarifying the issue with the POC. Organizer today 6/4.
The Philippines men's volleyball team is heavily invested in the goal of winning a medal at the 32nd SEA Games, including two training trips to Taiwan and Japan. This team ranked fifth in SEA Games 31, but is expected to repeat the achievement of winning silver medals as when hosting the 2019 congress.
PNVF insists that it will do everything to make the team attend the 32nd SEA Games. Tony Liao said that maybe the Philippines will be in Group A with three teams Indonesia, Cambodia and Singapore. Another possibility is that the organizers have to reorganize the draw, then the Philippines will be in the third seed group with Malaysia. The number one seed group includes defending champion Indonesia, runner-up Vietnam. Number two seeds are Cambodia and Thailand, while Myanmar and Singapore are in group four.
Indonesian men's volleyball is still rated as the strongest in the region. The runner-up position is a competition between four countries including Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines. Indonesia leads the way with 11 gold medals, followed by Thailand (8), Myanmar and (3).
