FranceThe current contract between PSG and Kylian Mbappe has a bonus clause of $88 million for loyalty, and as soon as July 31, the French team must pay half.

This clause is in the contract signed in May 2022, when the relationship between the two sides was still good. The contract is valid until June 2024 and the total income is up to 220 million USD, including nearly 90 million in loyalty fees and the rest is salary.

However, at the beginning of June, Mbappe sent a letter notifying him not to extend to June 2025 as originally planned. This made President Al Khelaifi angry, and decided to sell Mbappe right in this summer transfer window, otherwise it will be lost next year.

On July 21, PSG put pressure by excluding Mbappe from the Japan tour squad. According to AS (Spain), if Mbappe declares that he wants to leave or sign a contract with another club before July 31, PSG can use an excuse to not fulfill the payment obligation. However, the 24-year-old striker is very wary. After being dropped from the squad, he still reacted positively by happily training with the youth team in Paris, signing autographs for fans and not revealing anything about his future.

PSG's attempt to sell Mbappe is facing major obstacles. The French team bid a minimum of $ 200 million, but Real, the only transfer option of the French striker, did not accept. Real do not want to spend too much money compared to the transfer budget for a player with only one year of contract left.

Al Hilal is ready to pay 330 million transfer fee to PSG, 775 million salary for the 2023-2024 season for Mbappe, and allow him to join Real in the summer of 2024. However, Mbappe does not want to go to Saudi Arabia. Liverpool is the third solution. PSG is willing to sell for less than the original asking price for the English team. However, Mbappe does not want to go to a team that does not have a ticket to the Champions League next season.

If Mbappe refuses to leave in the summer transfer window, PSG can make him sit on the bench for the whole 2023-2024 season. If it happens, this could be a disaster for the 2022 World Cup top scorer and Ligue 1 top scorer in the last five seasons. Mbappe needs to play to maintain his high form for Euro 2024. The striker owns 40 goals in 70 games for France, in addition to a record of 212 goals in 260 matches for PSG.

Mbappe joined PSG in 2017, on loan from Monaco. A year later, PSG bought outright for 200 million USD. Mbappe is still the second most expensive player in football history, after Neymar with a record $ 263 million when he moved from Barca to PSG in 2017.

In the first two matches of the tour in Japan, PSG drew 0-0 with Al Nassr and lost to Cerezo Osaka 2-3. New coach Luis Enrique's team also meets Inter Milan on August 1 and Jeonbuk Hyundai on August 3, before returning to France to open Ligue 1 with Lorient on August 12.
