French President Nasser Al Khelaifi said that optimism has returned to PSG, when the team just said goodbye to stars like Lionel Messi and Neymar.

The Qatari leader said that PSG's 4-1 win at Lyon on September 3 showed that optimism has returned to the team, unlike the atmosphere at the end of last season. "Both on and off the field, PSG has never been as united as it is now," GFFN quoted Al Khelaifi as saying. "The team starts a new cycle this season, focusing on performance on the field rather than results. Because the team plays well, the results will come."

PSG changed half of the main squad compared to last season, when parting with Sergio Ramos, Messi, Neymar or Renato Sanches, and at the same time isolating midfielder Marco Verratti. They brought in many expected new recruits such as midfielders Milan Skriniar, Lucas Hernandez, midfielders Manuel Ugarte, Lee Kang-in, Marco Asensio or strikers Randal Kolo Muani, Goncalo Ramos and Ousmane Dembele.

At the end of last season, there were groups of spectators in Paris whistling and booing the home team, especially with players like Messi and Neymar. After transferring star Al Hilal, the Brazilian star also said that he and Messi had to live in hell at PSG.

Al Khelaifi also believes that French star Kylian Mbappe will continue to stay with the team, even though he once said he wanted to join Real Madrid. "Mbappe is a great player, but also a lovely guy," he said. "We are having a good and optimistic relationship."

The 50-year-old president believes Mbappe will extend his contract with PSG, although many sources believe that he has tacitly agreed to join Real for free in the summer of 2024. The 25-year-old star is said to be the cause of Neymar's departure. , when these two players have not had a good relationship recently. And after parting with two South American stars, Mbappe became the most important player in the team, even though he was not trusted by his teammates to be the captain.
