Dutch 20-year-old PSV fans paid the price for storming the field and punching Sevilla goalkeeper in the Europa League in February.

According to PSV's statement on March 21, the aforementioned fan was banned from Philips' home stadium for 40 years. The club is also preparing legal proceedings to claim compensation for the damage the club has suffered from this incident.

At the end of the Europa League play-off second leg on February 23, a male fan burst into the field and punched rival goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic. He then fell over and was carried off the field by security personnel.

"I've never seen anything like it," Dmitrovic said after that game. "I won't say what I really want to do with him. I'm glad I knew where he came from and could have stopped him, otherwise other unfortunate things could have happened."

The fan is currently serving a three-month prison sentence, and has been banned by the Dutch prosecutor's office from the area around the Philips stadium for two years. This person is already banned from the field due to another disturbance. On February 23, he entered the field with a ticket from a friend.

UEFA opened disciplinary proceedings against PSV following the incident. The Dutch club could be fined playing without an audience or fined.

PSV won the second leg against Sevilla 2-0, but lost 2-3 in the end. Sevilla then beat Fenerbahce 2-1 in the round of 16 to enter the quarter-finals against Man Utd.

PSV is one of the three most famous clubs in the Netherlands, next to Ajax and Feyenoord. They have won the Dutch championship 24 times, won 10 Dutch Cups, one C1/Champions League Cup and one UEFA Cup/Europa League. In 1988, they won a treble of Dutch championship, Dutch Cup and C1 Cup.
