Rashford equals Salah's record in the Premier League
Rashford equaled Mohamed Salah's record for the number of monthly awards in a Premier League season, when the Liverpool striker did it in the 2017-2018 season. This season, Rashford has won the award three times in September, 1 and 2. If he is honored again in the remaining three months, the Man Utd striker will set a new record.
To receive the February award, Rashford surpassed five other nominations: Kelechi Iheanacho, Bernd Leno, Emerson Royal, Manor Solomon and Ollie Watkins. The 26-year-old striker has scored five goals this month, including a brace against Leicester, two against Leeds and the winning goal against Crystal Palace.
During his career, Rashford has won the monthly award four times, equal to legends like Alan Shearer or Thierry Henry. His achievement is only behind Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane, Steven Gerrard, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney. In which Aguero and Kane hold the record of seven times rewarded.
This award is selected by the English Premier League expert panel. From there, readers of the Premier League homepage voted, combined with the decision of experts. The remaining three players who have won this season are Erling Haaland August, Miguel Almiron September and Martin Odegaard November & December.
Man Utd holds the record of winning this award, with 21 players having been honored, with 45 times winning the award. Liverpool is second with 17 players and 32 awards. Arsenal also had 21 players awarded, but they won the award 31 times. In terms of the ratio of awards to the number of players who have been honored, Man Utd is second only to West Brom. The West Midlands team has only won the award three times, all thanks to striker Peter Odemwingie.
