Revealing the group of candidates to win the BRG Open Golf Championship 2023
Today, Lawson scored six birdies and was the only one without a bogey. Thanks to that performance, the Australian golfer went from -4 after round 1 to -10 at the end of round 2 and led by two strokes compared to T2, including Justin Quiban (Philippines) and Naoki Sekito (Japan). Behind T2 there are six hands in the segment from -7 to -3.
Considering round 2 scores, Lawson and Quiban had the deepest negative (-6). Thanks to that, both of them co-own the 18-hole record at the BRG Open Golf Championship 2023, on the par72 course designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus, at BRG Danang Golf Resort. This tournament has 23 Vietnamese golfers, of which only three players passed the cut, including Nguyen Anh Minh at T23 (even par), Doan Van Dinh and Nguyen Nhat Long at T45 (+2).
The tournament is recording a leading position after two rounds exceeding the final mark in the first period, when Chen Guxin and Lloyd Jefferson Go both finished -8 and then fought extra holes with Guxin winning.
BRG Open Golf Championship belongs to the official competition system on the Asian Development Tour since its launch and accompanies within the framework of the Danang Golf Tourism Festival opening in 2022.
This year's tournament brings together 144 golfers, competing for a prize fund of 100,000 USD in an individual stroke play format over three rounds.
On September 2, the champion will appear and receive a reward of 17,500 USD and a cup crafted from Chu Dau ceramics (Hai Duong) with a history of formation and development of 600 years.
The Asian Development Tour's managing unit determines that the BRG Open Golf Championship is a long-term project in Da Nang.
The Asian Development Tour has operated since 2010, as a stepping stone to the first-class arena of the Asian Tour, similar to the Korn Ferry Tour of the US PGA Tour or the Challenge Tour of the European DP World Tour. Since 2013, ADT awards are scored on the World Professional Rankings (OWGR). The history of this arena so far has recorded only Tran Le Duy Nhat as the Vietnamese national champion, at the Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament 2015.
