Revealing the "quality" opponent of the national women's volleyball team at the 2023 VTV Cup
After a 3-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 epidemic and coincided with the 31st SEA Games, the VTV Cup volleyball tournament has returned. The tournament, jointly organized by VTV and the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, will take place from August 19 to August 26 in Lao Cai.
The return of the VTV Cup not only helps the national women's team as well as the 2nd team have more opportunities to rub shoulders with international competitors when ASIAD will take place a month later, but also meet the expectations of volleyball fans. Since its first organization in 2004, VTV Cup for 16 years has been one of the most prestigious and attractive tournaments of Vietnamese volleyball.
The last time the national team won the VTV Cup was in 2018 after beating North Korea 3-0 in the final. In the last tournament, in 2019, the NEC Red Rockets guests defeated the Vietnamese team 3-1 to take the throne.
VTV Cup 2023 will have 8 teams competing. In particular, the LDBC sent the 1st national team led by coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, and the 2nd team led by coach Nguyen Thi Hien to attend the tournament. The decision to summon the 2nd team was shared by coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, originally expected to be the U23 team, but because the time coincided with the schedule of the youth tournaments, the professional board did not limit the age of the 2nd team, but still prioritized young players.
With team 2, VTV Cup will be a playground for players to impress the national team. Outstanding factors will be added to the first team participating in ASIAD.
BTC VTV Cup 2023 has not announced the list of 6 international guests. It is expected to be Fukushi Kansai University, Japan; a representative from Thailand, a representative from the Philippines, Kazakhstan (possibly the national team) and the Australian team are currently ranked 51st on the FIVB rankings.
The tournament will be played in two groups and will take place from August 19 to August 26.
