Ride an electric motorbike from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City for the night race
The planned distance was more than 1,700 km at first, but because of his passion for discovering Hai Phong's hometown boy, he spent another 800 km visiting famous places. In 14 days, Long passed through a total of 21 provinces.
The trip helped Long open his eyes and see the beauty of Vietnam from the North to the South. Every day, he runs from 150 to 200 km, stopping to visit several landmarks and charging the car. The places chosen are usually historical and cultural relics such as the relic of the great poet Nguyen Du (Ha Tinh), the ancient citadel of Quang Tri, the Citadel (Hue), Duc Thanh school (Phan Thiet), ...
The most memorable experience on the journey was when Long crossed the famous winding and dangerous Hai Van Pass. The road is about 20 km long, challenging the steering wheel with "death" turns. Rain and fog made the journey even more difficult. He said he had to turn the throttle all the way on the slopes. Sometimes in the middle of the road you have to stop so the engine doesn't overheat. Brakes are also a concern because when going downhill, if not used properly, it can lead to brake fire. "Fortunately, I crossed the pass safely. It was a 'dangerous' experience but also a very memorable one," said Long.
After crossing Hai Van pass, the 28-year-old described the journey to the South as "poetic and peaceful", especially when he reduced the throttle to watch the sea and sky on the coastal road of Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa. "The part that reminds me forever is the palace of Bau Trang - Phan Cua Ri (Binh Thuan. Because there is no noise from the car engine, I can clearly feel the sound of the waves, like being immersed in nature," he said.
Runner nicknamed Long La Ca also spent two days visiting Dalat. In addition to sightseeing, drinking coffee, he tried to use the tram to conquer famous slopes, including Nha Bo slope.
The problem of electric vehicles is still the problem of charging. To fix it, Mr. Long borrowed a 1,000W charger, instead of the original 400W version to increase the car charging speed to 4 hours. The car can run 120km at 45km/h, 100km at 60km/h. He must calculate the distance to go, stop and rest reasonably to have time to charge the car. In remote areas, far from the city, backpackers have to visit cafes and people's houses to ask for a charger.
He likes the night track because it is "cool and vibrant", different from Hanoi. There are parts that make him as impressive as the pedestrian street, with hundreds of young people pouring out into the street to cheer and cheer. Next time if there is a chance to participate in another MetaSports Marathon, Long said he would do something crazier. For him, youth is an experience, and running is health.
