Ronaldo and stars pay tribute to Marcelo
"More than a teammate, Marcelo is the brother that football has brought to me," Cristiano Ronaldo wrote on Instagram. "In and on the pitch, you are one of the greatest stars I am very happy to be in the same dressing room. Try my best in the new adventure, Marcelo!".
In the period 2009-2018, Ronaldo and Marcelo were the famous left wing of Real, together to win two La Liga and four Champions League.
This summer, Marcelo left Real Madrid after 15 years. The 34-year-old defender finished his final season with the captain's armband and his 25th title-the 2021-2022 UEFA Champions League. Marcelo is also the player who won the most championships in the history of the club.
Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Casillas recalled: "You came when you were a child. How many times have I shouted 'Marcelo, come back!'. Thank you for being a legend. Give you a hug and wish you all the best in the future."
"Marcelo! Thank you for everything! He is a legend and the player with the most trophies in the best club in the world," Brazil striker Vinicius said.
German team-mate Tony Cross said: "It's fun to play football and learn from you. Monsters inside and outside. Eternal number 12. I can say I play with the best left-back of all time."
Marcelo joined Real Madrid in January 2007 at the age of 18. The Brazilian star has played 546 games, scored 38 goals for Real Madrid and won 25 titles, including: 6 La Liga, 2 King's Cups, 5 Spanish Super Cups, 5 Champions League, 3 European Super Cups and 4 FIFA World Club Cups.
According to Marca, Marcelo may travel to Turkey to play for Fenerbahce.
