Ronaldo asked Al Nassr to buy three superstars
Ronaldo was not satisfied when Al Nassr was held to a 0-0 draw on the field of the 11th Saudi League team Al Feiha on the evening of April 9. The Saudi newspaper Al Weeam, citing an internal source Al Nassr, said that the captain of the football team proposed to the leadership to recruit at least three more superstars to be able to compete in domestic and continental tournaments. He thinks that Al Nassr's current squad is not enough to compete for the championship.
According to Transfermarkt, Al Nassr owns the most valuable squad in Asia with $88 million, of which Ronaldo is valued at $22 million. Excluding the 38-year-old superstar, Al Nassr is still at the top of Asia with $66 million in squad value, while UAE club Sharjah is second with $45 million. Defending AFC Champions League and Saudi League champions Al Hilal have the fourth most valuable squad in Asia with $43 million.
Al Nassr has high-value players like Anderson Talisca 15 million USD, Pity Martinez 10 million, Ghislain Konan 9 million or Agustin Rossi 8 million USD. Transfermarkt values players based on many factors such as achievements, titles, age, prestige, commercial value, development potential, experience or injury history.
Al Nassr led the Saudi League from round 9, December 16, 2022. On January 3, 2023, Ronaldo debuted Al Nassr on a free transfer, receiving a salary of 200 million euros (220 million USD) per year. Al Nassr held the top of the group until round 20, when they lost to direct rivals Al Ittihad 0-1 at Jeddah. The Al Feiha draw left Al Nassr three points off Al Ittihad, with seven rounds remaining in the season. The value of the Al Ittihad squad is currently 31 million USD.
The Al Nassr squad has three pillars that will expire in the summer of 2023: goalkeeper Rossi, midfielder Alvaro Gonzalez and midfielder Luiz Gustavo. According to Goal, Ronaldo's future at Al Nassr will be affected if the team does not recruit the superstars he wants.
