Ronaldo did not vote for The Best FIFA
According to the voting results announced by FIFA on the evening of February 27, Ronaldo did not participate in The Best vote for the first time in 15 years. Each national football federation will have three votes belonging to the coach, the captain of the team and a journalist. Ronaldo is the captain of Portugal for the 2022 World Cup, but the vote belongs to Pepe.
Each judge gets to choose three players from a pool of 14 previously announced nominations, with five, three and one point respectively. Ronaldo is not included in this nomination group.
Pepe's order of choice is Kylian Mbappe, Luka Modric and Karim Benzema. New Portugal coach Roberto Martinez chose Lionel Messi, Kevin de Bruyne and Mbappe respectively.
Messi won The Best for the best male player of the year for the second time, with a perfect score because he was the number one choice from all four groups of judges, including coach, captain, journalists and fans. Mbappe is second and Benzema is third.

In Vietnam, coach Park Hang-seo chose Messi, Mbappe and Salah, while captain Do Hung Dung voted for Messi, Benzema and Mbappe. The Vietnamese media representative chose Messi, Mbappe and Modric.
Among the three judging groups including coaches, captains and journalists, 633 people from 211 FIFA member associations were selected. In it, there were many unexpected votes, such as Spain coach Luis De La Fuente choosing Alvarez, Jude Bellingham and Modric. Egypt captain Mohamed Salah voted for Vinicius, De Bruyne and Achraf Hakimi. Austria captain David Alaba is playing for Real Madrid, but chooses Messi for the number one spot. And the Senegal coach only put captain Sadio Mane in third place, behind Mbappe and Hakimi.
The judges' scores will be added to each group, with each group having the same weight. The top player in each group gets 13 points, second place 11 points, third place 9 points and the next order decreases by one point. Messi was rated the highest by all four groups, so he won 52 absolute points.
The Best has been awarded since 2016, when Ronaldo won both for the first time. The other two players who have won the award twice are Lewandowski and Messi.
