Holger Rune wants to become the number one tennis player in the world, winning as many titles as his idol Roger Federer, after winning his first Masters 1000.

Holger Rune enters this season at 103 in the world. The Danish tennis player this week entered the top 10 after defeating Novak Djokovic in the final of the Paris Masters on the evening of November 6. Rune's progress is comparable to what Carlos Alcaraz did last year. Since the beginning of October, Rune has reached four finals and won twice.

Rune said she always believes in herself, has a clear goal with her career. He said: "My goals are very high, I am motivated every day. My dream is to be number one in the world. I want to do something like Federer used to do. He inspires so much. let me play like today."

Rune is a former 2019 Roland Garros youth champion, at the age of 16. He reached the quarterfinals on the first time he attended the main round of Roland Garros this season. The Danish tennis player really thrived in year-end hard court tournaments, reaching finals in Sofia, Stockholm, Basel and Paris. To win in Stockholm and Paris, Rune defeated two of the most stable seniors this season, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Djokovic.

The current Rune coach is Patrick Mouratoglou, who has coached many famous names, including Serena Williams. The French strategist believes Rune can step up the ladder of proficiency. He said: "When Rune met me, he wanted to find someone to elevate himself. We then came up with a very clear idea. The more it grew, the more precise the work needed to be. Rune wanted to be the number one. one and is approaching the top players."

Runes trained at Mouratoglou's academy in Nice over the years. He always had his parents around during training sessions and tournaments. Rune's tennis inspiration came from the age of 6, when he watched his sister Alma practice. He then watched Rafael Nadal and Federer compete on television, then began to get serious about tennis.

Winning five opponents in the world's top 10 to be crowned is a rare occurrence for a teenage tennis player. Against Rune, Emma Raducanu does just that on her way to winning the US Open 2021. He has won three of his five finals since his first in Munich in April.

"If I stay in shape, I can beat anyone," added Rune. "But at this level, just drop the tempo and you'll be knocked out any time. I want to focus on my career, improve myself and keep competing in the years to come. The way. very long."
